Day 7. Runcorn to Slaidburn.

Set off on a mission this morning. Needed a new phone as mine died after its dunking in the ford... Dashed into Warrington and got sorted. The diversion cost us some time though and we had to work hard to catch the others

Debbie Read came to support us at the Stag Inn close to Stockton Heath. Lovely to see her!

We managed to catch the van before it left the tea stop so did get our tea break this morning which we didn't think we would... Sharon's hubby Andy had kindly done our washing and returned it. He cycled with us to Belmont which was the lunch stop. Everyone else there and still eating their lunch so we caught up well. Pics of the Black Dog pub and the lovely views on the way up there. And Sharon and Andy. We drafted Andy most of the way, great for our average speed! Shortly before we left the pub Charley decided it would be funny to lie on his side under his bike (pic). Something Janet had done a couple of times.. a clip problem we think she'd been having ;-)

Cycled through Leigh late this morning. Not far from where I used to work at Bedford High school.

The roads up to Belmont gave us great views of Winter Hill. After lunch some amazing lanes with great views of the Lancashire hills. Then into Blackburn. Not so interesting. Whalley was beautiful. From 50 miles on the road was up and down but everyone was feeling fit and hills didn't seem so bad today. Another beautiful day. Everyone feeling great and looking great. Cycling tan lines developing well.

Ended the day at Slaidburn youth hostel. Beautiful Lancashire village and lovely meal in the Hark to Bounty pub to finish off a lovely day.

Stats:
63 miles, cumulative 477. At some point in tomorrow's ride we are half way. Happy but sort of sad too. So soon? In one way the holiday is going really slowly, in other ways too fast. Days merge and it's hard to remember where we've been or what we did on each of the days. Our main focus is cycling and having a good laugh. Nothing else. Don't give a stuff what might be happening in the news..

That's my Girl........ Didn't realise that you were so close to home on Sunday! We were at Bents Garden Centre, only a mile out of Leigh. Could have met up and had a cuddle.. Or cuggle as the Parrot says!

Keep up the good work.. you're obviously having more than a ball..
