Welcome to Wales. Day four!

Arrived in Monmouth, we're now in Wales! At long last making progress up country - the bit across the South West felt as if we weren't getting anywhere as we were cycling East all the time!

70 miles today, much flatter. Some downhills were more like ups. Must be the lie of the land - some kind of optical illusion that deceived us.. Either the Welsh have downhill ups and uphill downs, or, as one of our group suggested (Rachel), perhaps the Welsh put glue on the roads... This was in the Wye Valley which was a superb scenic ride (mostly) downhill..

Ace weather today if you don't count the drizzle as we first set off. Very warm now at 7 in the evening. Off to Pizza Express to eat with the group. More later!

10 pm. Trying for an early night tonight. Back from dinner and blogging... Everyone very tired. First three days were hard and today was described as moderate on the route notes but it was just as long and legs had 200 miles in them this morning!

Today's pics and highlights....

- Chew Valley Lake late this morning.
- Cycling through Long Aston Estate, where they are setting up for the Bristol balloon festival, and the deer!
- Cycling over the Clifton Suspension Bridge (from left to right Sue, Sharon, Janet and Rachel; the Tour de France ladies).
- Cycling over the old Severn Road Bridge and into Wales (attached a clip, hope it works).
- Ice cream at Tintern Abbey late this afternoon. There was no van stop this afternoon because a lady had come off her bike, was injured and needed to be picked up. The ice cream was delicious, called Welsh Gold. Sheila is ok and hopes to be cycling again tomorrow.

Tomorrow is an easy/moderate day. Only 52 miles....
